VFW Post 5265 is Smoke Free
On September 9, 2008 the Board of Directors held a special meeting to discuss and vote on the new Pennsylvania Clean Indoor Air Act. The Board members in attendance voted unanimously to comply with the new Act and longer allow smoking in any area of the Post.

VFW Post 5265 Receives All-State Award
VFW Post 5265 Commander, Robert Zeigler, Jr. and Quartermaster, Robert Hinkle, Jr. receive the All-State award on behalf of Post 5265. The awards were presented at the VFW State Convention held June 25 - 28, 2008 by the VFW Commander-in Chief (left), the VFW Department of Pennsylvania Commander (2nd from left) and State Membership Chairman Wrayburn Reinsmith (right). This is the third consecutive year our post has received this award.

Moving Wall Replica Coming to Harrisburg
The Moving Wall, a half size replica of the Vietnam Veterans Memorial in Washington, DC, is coming to Harrisburg from September 18th to September 21st, 2008. The Wall will be on display at the PA Farm Show Complex & Expo Center on North Cameron St. The Wall will be assembled the morning of September 18th and will be open for viewing sometime later that day. Opening ceremonies for The Wall will be held on Friday, September 19th at Noon. The Department of PA VFW is planning several activities to follow the ceremonies on Friday.
Veteran Dues
As of July 1, 2008 Veterans membership dues for the 2009 membership year are now due. Members must pay their annual dues by December 31, 2008 to remain an active member of the post. Key cards for unpaid members will be deactivated as of January 2009 and will not be reactivated until dues have been paid.
Membership dues for 2009 are $21 and may be paid directly to VFW National Headquarters, online at emem.vfw.org or by dropping payment off at the post to the attention of the Quartermaster.
U.S. Flag Disposal
Please do not throw your old U.S. flags away. Unserviceable flags may be dropped off at the VFW for proper disposal at a Flag Burning Ceremony. These ceremonies ensure our flag receives the final dignity and honor it deserves.
